Wow. Great episode with lovely variety and some provocations for me to check out interesting artists. You got me to listen today because your newsletter said you only play vinyl and don't scour the internet. I need a smaller, slower world and you took me there today. Thank you.
Still listening to this episode (and creating the playlist) but thought I'd share something I think goes nicely with the theme of this episode.
I inherited a love of classical music from my dad with a focus on solo piano. One of his fave performers was Sviatoslav Richter and there's an album of his solo piano work called In Memoriam that is amazing start to finish. Specifically on that album are Debussy's Estampes (there's 3 tracks). If you're not familiar, I think you'll really appreciate them.
Hey Rob - oh weow yeah that's exactly the kind of stuff Im looking for these days. thank you ill definitely check it out. and thanks again for making the apple playlists. I'm going to figure out where to put them soon. im just busy and slow but I appreciate the effort and will they will be very useful. ✌️
Loved this episode. You can hear Emahoy on Ethiopiques No 21, one of a great series of albums covering Ethiopian music genres from the 40s on. Some amazing music. Vol 4 Ethio Jazz is great, also The Golden Years and there's a Best Of also Well worth checking out!
The rabbits that live in my yard liked this one which is high praise. They are terrible snobs. Seriously it is the best hour yet.

Thanks - yeah I was a latecomer to all those collections. I’m working my way through them . Incredible stuff.
Thanks so much for turning me on to such great music, Walt. Been a weekly treat I really look forward to.
Thanks for the note. Glad you’re enjoying it. ✌️
