loved this, thanks Walter. I'm not a drummer but am a bit obsessed with them and have a mental list of favourite "drumming songs" – Lost In Boston is one of them: powerful and imaginative, that menacing swell on the snare in the middle always gives me goosebumps. Paul
Matt is the best drummer of our generation I think. Really just a master. I just don’t talk about him in here because it’s too close to home. I’m gonna do a guitar players episode next but will omit Paul even though he’s a guitar god in my mind. Feels weird talking about my friends I guess. But yes those are all great examples of Matt’s magic for sure . Thx for listening ✌️
Im just gonna be on the nose and talk about your buddy Matt Barrick. I don't know how much input you've had on his drumming but what I ADORE about his style is how damn groovy he is. Sure he can be a punk drummer if you need him to and that's cool as hell but the little things he does is one of the things that makes The Walkmen unique. Some examples off the top of my head: Wake Up, French Vacation, My Old Man, Canadian Girl, Postcards, All My Great Designs, The Witch.
ha thanks - what about a percussion episode? Like a tambourine focused percussion episode? Honestly that’s where 95% of my passion for music lies…tambourines.

I need a Part 2 but look forward to the guitar episode.
Yeah I was thinking I need a part 2 - I barely scratched the surface here
big yes to a part 2!
Ok will do!
Another vote for a part 2. I could listen to you talk about music all day!

Oh definitely!
And if you branched out into Brazilian and Middle Eastern tambourines, you've got yourself another two-parter!
Then move on to maracas, congas, timbales......
This is gold!
