I’m still recovering from the emotional upheaval that was my recent Radio Hour about The Beatles. Sorting through my weird issues with Sir Paul honestly helped me see his work more clearly. It sounds like I’m kidding—or at least exaggerating—but I’m not. I actually listened to him a lot this weekend and enjoyed the hell out of it for the first time in a long time—and I felt a little like a jerk for being so hard on him. So, in an effort to make peace, I’ve made a playlist of my favorite Paul McCartney stuff.
Playlist: My Paul Songs
Like I said in the episode, I just need to relax, take it easy, stop comparing Paul to John and just enjoy McCartney’s music for what it is. And a lot of it is great. And I can even admit that some of it actually feels deep and mysterious (*wow, admitting that is a big step for me). So below are the songs that I love most right now. I’m curious if, with some additional work, I can get into to some of that later 70’s stuff, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
The Beatles drama is blowing over and this week I’d like to return to some smooth sailing—some peaceful listening to soothe the soul. I love the two collections below so much and this time of year they really hit the spot.
