Like fruitcake dunked in your eggnog, this playlist is pure sentimental holiday indulgence. It’s a beautiful and sad time of year and, to my ear, this is the music that captures that feeling.

I personally plan on totally overloading on this stuff until the morning of the 26th when I’ll switch back to my Joy Division records.

This playlist is that old friend you only see at the holidays, who you actually don’t know very well even though you’ve known each other since you were kids, and every Christmas they end up getting super sentimental and overstaying their welcome and throwing up in your front yard, but it wouldn’t be Christmas without them.

These are all handpicked songs that I’ve collected over the years—hopefully a lot of recordings you don’t know. I prefer the dreamy and sad but I also need a little dumb and childish mixed in.
