Music for Your Week: Playlist | The Rocky Road from Laura Brannigan to Lou Reed
Episode 35 Expanded Playlist: 2hr 28min
Listen to last week’s Walter Martin Radio Hour: How I Became a Music Fanatic
Hi! Ok this playlist is really fun. If you heard last week’s autobiographical episode you will recognize these twists and turns as we make our way down the rocky road from Laura Brannigan to The Velvet Underground.
With so many bumps in between!
So this expanded playlist explores more of those bumps—from my first favorite songs (mostly from 1982-1983) to the “screw you” stuff of my tween years.
From some great explorations into British and Jamaican ska, through the awkward “funky” period (represented only briefly on the playlist).
And, eventually to teenage redemption in the form of a life-saving The Velvet Underground cassette.
ALSO! I forgot to include the below video I mentioned in the episode post!
But please enjoy this clip of me (guitar) and Stewart Lupton (bass, vocals) and Matt Barrick (drums) playing God Save the Queen by The Sex Pistols at a 7th grade school assembly.
