I'll add Ira Kaplan / Yo La Tengo for hours and hours of delicious farfisa! https://youtu.be/d9kTj4fbujg?si=vn6fIkFdrUEQGk02

Oh yeah I totally forgot to mention them. I borrowed an organ (an Acetone, I think) from them once at a festival and it was great.

Very educational and I appreciate your enthusiasm as usual. I can identify the Hammond no problem, still struggling to tell the difference between the vox continental and the Farfisa. Never zeroed in on organ sounds before!

Ok great! Yeah being able to tell a Hammond from a Vox/Farfisa is the major lesson I wanted to get across. So I’m glad you can hear it!

Vox and Farfisa are often really hard to tell apart from each other — even for me! Glad you enjoyed the episode!

Spelled farfisa "pharpheesa" so I think I'm automatically disqualified but had the time of my life listening to this!!! Love a quiz!

I came of musical age when a B-3 was a common site on stage. The Dead, The Band, The Nice, Brian Auger, Al Kooper (especially with young Shuggie Otis), Steve Miller Band, Santana, J. Geils Band, Allman Brothers, Mountain, and most especially the phenomenal Lee Michaels, a true virtuoso whose Stormy Monday is my foundational song of what a man, two keyboards, a pedal board, Leslie and multi-octave vocal range can accomplish in 4 minutes. The list goes on…. The Korg and other modern keyboards do a reasonable imitation, but the thrill is not the same.

So cool. Thanks for the note, Douglas. Yeah the real thing is always more fun and always sounds better, just harder to carry around!

Great listen! …seems appropriate to drop this nugget here from the back of Leo Kottke’s 6 & 12 string guitar album:

“…Bach had 20 children because his organ didn’t have any stops”! Organ/Organist humor is never not funny!

Sorry all these comments are out of order I’m listening to them backwards. Anyway here’s my favorite organ pun: https://youtu.be/gvGyJNK9p3Q?si=2KKxJR8cGqiFpoy9
