Ok this episode is a follow-up to last week’s Pitchfork Indie Rock episode. Last week we checked out bunch of great indie artists from the first decade of the 21st century and this week we look at what came next, after the boat shoes wore out.

Lana Del Rey

I honestly have never thought about the progression of this music and how styles were developing and all that, but I feel like I discovered a few interesting trends this week.

And again, this is not at all a comprehensive history of this music, it’s just a look back at the stuff from this period that I liked enough to buy on vinyl. So there is a LOT missing from this story.

King Krule

The story I tell this week—like the stories I tell every week—is told through the lens of my taste and my record collection, and who knows if it lines up with the real history of this music... and honestly, who cares?

MIA

Enjoy!
