What is this all about?
I have been working hard on my follow-up to my album The Bear (and it’s gonna be a while) but in the meantime I wanted to drop off a little holiday gift—something you can listen to while making fruitcake or playing monopoly or whatever. Some humor, some heart and some horror.
What’s Concert at Coco’s like?
Concert at Coco’s is a party album in the classic sense. Following in the tradition of classic party albums like The Beach Boys Party and Trini Lopez Live at PJ’s, Concert at Coco’s is loose and informal and bursting with life. That was the idea at least. Lots of Farfisa organ, maracas, gang vocals, bells and whistles—all my old tricks.
Why now?
Concert at Coco’s is not a holiday album. I’m just releasing it now because I like the idea of people listening to it during the holiday break while they do puzzles and that kind of thing.
Did you make vinyl and hats?
Yes. Pre-order for limited edition vinyl opened at 9am ET today! (just now). And groovy Concert at Coco’s hats are on sale too. All at Bandcamp
Is the album coming to Spotify and Apple music etc?
Yes. It’s coming out on all the digital outlets on Tuesday the 19th.
What songs are on it?
01. The Great Zebra Migration (for Lyle)
02. Singing Sea Shuffle
03. North of New York
04. One-a-these Days
05. Sing to Me
06. Boonie’s Interlude
07. Kazoo March in C Major
08. Together
09. The Everglades
10. The Visitor
11. It’s a Dream (Midnight Version)
Why is the Spotify/Apple music release next Tuesday?
I set it up like this for unclear reasons. I don’t have a manager and at the point in time when I had to set up the release, releasing it this way seemed like the best idea.
This email is on Substack, are you starting a Substack?
I’m not sure.
So I would feel REALLY WEIRD if I wore a hat that said I was at a concert I actually wasn’t at. Maybe they’re sold out and it’s not a problem. But I am curious about Mr Martin’s philosophical take on such a conundrum.
Hypocrites have a special place in Hell…
…and yet, we’re all hypocrites somehow
LP ordered. Looking forward to giving it a spin.
